a bumper crop as it were in a manner of speaking

Did you ever notice that when some government official is saying something that makes no sense as a matter of logic, they often lapse into metaphor?

Like when the guy was trying to explain why city workers got a 4 to 6 percent raise in pay and at the same time were given two weeks off as a "pay cut" of 3.8%. That really made no sense except that it just sounds better in the press release: "Workers take pay cuts!" screams the headline. Except it's not really "true" in any sense; getting more money isn't a "pay cut."

In explaining this to the council and to the citizen's budget advisory committee the reason given was they were working with the various bargaining units so that we aren't behind the eight ball so that when the economy recovers we are still in the ball park.

I don't know if that dog can hunt, sounds like a perfect storm for a meltdown.

  3. OK.....I suppose its like telling people she brought back 1.2 million from WashingtonDC trip over the last 8 years.....at the last council meeting it was 8-900,000.00 over the last 10.......Quite contrary to COG and city reports........ developers put up 50 thousand large to a lobbiest that brought 600,000 to Caltrans for Lathrop- I5 interchange design and 280,000 was ascertained through a one time grant from Homeland security for the overpass at the railroad tracks........What the hell Joe? You have me believing you are about TRUTH.....not smoke and mirrors!

  4. Manteca just hired a Washington lobbyist (for $60,000) to try to get some of the crumbs that fall from President Obama's table. So if you're just sending the mayor on a junket that's an improvement!

Although as much as I hate to think it, there are so many dollars flying around Washington DC that it's probably cost effective to send someone in there to grab some of them or even hire a lobbying firm.

It's like a game show with one of those glass booths where dollar bills are blown around and someone grabs as many bills as they can. We almost have to send someone in there and start grabbing. As much as it pains me to think of it.

Doesnt make it right Joe, Doesnt make it right.....besides....the dough came in 8 years ago.....nothing since then, just lots of money spent so an elected official can go play "politician" in DC on taxpayers money.....I really dont care if you agree or not.....clearly, you will back Kristy and whatever she does or says.....right, wrong or otherwise.......one day, that fact will bite you in the ass....
