  1. You darn right we have the right to know! I have listened to teachers all my life complain about the wages they earn. I have listened to this same whinning since I was in school. My grandsons come home and tell us about how hard it is for their teachers. I showed them the wage list and they were shocked. Thank you for educating the students and parents about this chronic whinning. Keep up the good work!

  2. I taught in Manteca for over 35 years. It wasn't until we were a two salary family and 20 years passed that we did not live month to month. We live in a middle-class home. You might also keep in mind that teachers are the most important people in any culture. They educate and pass on our culture making all things possible for all citizens. I cannot complain or whine about my salary once I reached the higher end of the salary. But it was a struggle for many of the early years.

  3. What a horrible violation of privacy. Don't forget, each one of those names belongs to a human being. Publishing the title and salary would have been sufficient. Attack the system, atack the positions, not the individual man or woman, mother or father, friend and neighbor that fills those positions. There was no need for the names of those people to be published. If it weren't for these people you would be throwing your own feces out the front door, you would actually have to take the time and teach your own kids and you'd have to put out your own fire with water you dragged up from the nearest natural source of water. It's time for civility, open public discussion and respect across the table. This wasn't a display of our freedom to "know" it was a humilating and personal attack.

  4. The salaries are public information, so it can't be a violation of privacy. Those working in government positions are aware that this information is not private when they take those jobs. It's easy to say "I don't make that much money!" when there's only a title attached to a salary. It's much harder to deny when a name is attached to it.

We all make choices in our lives about what career paths to pursue and where we'll accept employment. Don't complain after taking a high-paid government job that your salary isn't secret.

    Thanks for the comments...it's enlightening.
