Candidate Meeting

This is the meeting of the South San Joaquin Republicans candidate night.  Sorry about the shakey video, my inflamed nerves were acting up and the lighting in there is a nightmare, windows all around, everything is backlit.  The sound in there isn't so good either.  But here it is, submitted for your approval.  As bad as it is, there are some amusing parts.  Heck, the rendition of the National Anthem at the end is worth the trip.

  1. For anyone who didn't catch the names of those being interviewed:

The TEA Party woman was Rita Stolp who is coordinating the "TEA Party movement" in San Joaquin County. I hate to be so critical, but she doesn't appear to hold any of the actual TEA party values. This seems to be an attempt by the Republicans to pretend they're part of this popular movement and co-opt it for their own benefit. Real TEA partiers won't be fooled.

Elizabeth Emken is running for the GOP nomination to try to defeat CD 11 representative Jerry McNerney (D). The Contra Costa Times said "Elizabeth Emken, of Danville, may be the Democrats' biggest worry...Emken is an alternative in an otherwise male field."

Richard Behling is a first-time candidate for Manteca City Council.

Georgianna Reichelt is a long-time political activist in Manteca.

Mayor Willie Weatherford is running for a third term as Manteca's mayor.

Carlon Perry is a former mayor of Manteca and rumor has it that he's going to run for mayor again this year, though he hasn't announced it yet.

Brenda Franklin is the owner of Tipton's Stationery & Gifts in downtown Manteca
